Alaska Airlines’ first international business-class suites
Alaska Airlines is introducing its first-ever international business-class suites as the carrier expands non-stop service to Europe and Asia. The new cabin features private, lie-flat suites designed specifically to enhance passenger comfort on these longer routes. Alongside the hard product, the airline is upgrading its soft product with new dining options and luxury amenities from Filson and Salt & Stone.
Integrating private lie-flat suites into a fleet historically focused on domestic operations introduces new dynamic testing and head impact criteria (HIC) certification hurdles. Engineering teams will need to carefully manage the increased weight and complex kinematics of these suites against the airline's existing maintenance and turnaround protocols.
