Alaska Airlines Brings Aurora Premium Upgrades to MAX 10, 787 Fleets
Alaska Airlines is launching a new cabin initiative dubbed the Aurora Premium Upgrades. As part of this strategy, the carrier plans to configure a dedicated sub-fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft with lie-flat beds and a premium economy section. Additionally, the airline will update its Boeing 787 widebody fleet to include a new premium economy offering.
Integrating lie-flat seating into a narrowbody MAX 10 airframe introduces significant egress certification and monument footprint challenges compared to standard recliner configurations. Furthermore, rolling out a consistent premium economy product across both the MAX and 787 platforms will require rigorous supply-chain coordination to align seat deliveries with fleet modification schedules.
